Well Mikey you know that the skiff is my favorite thing you do. Great yellow catch, that was awesome. Shaker Halibut was nice too. On the rod you dragged up, I have salvaged several myself from Salt water and fresh. With a little bit of effort the rod is usually easy to put back in service. Sometimes the reel is a little difficult but it can be done depending on how long it's been down there. Overall the video made my day. I always look forward to you and Mark R in the solo skiff. Just made my first LJ yak session Saturday! You totally inspired me to get out there. Thank you brother! It was absolutely magical! I was pressed for time but so lucky to paddle out and fish with The Cinco Chignons....... Mauricio, Jose' and their crew. Such cool class act dudes! Insightful, informative, supportive, solid fun fishermen that shared the solid knowledge you don't get in college. Very grateful to fish with them and that they let me tag along. I caught it on a 3 ounce chovy Hook Up Bait bouncing off the bottom.

I go out 4-5 times a month and only 1 yellowtail 4 years ago.

I was out Saturday 5:30+ and very weak fishing. A little breezy.

thanks for videoing your launch. It has been 20 years since I launched out of LJ and at that time it was in a sea kayak. I know it can be challenging at times, also while landing. Now that I have a skiff, I was considering it but not with my Honda 2.3 centrifugal clutch; a spinning prop in the surf and an out of control skiff is a recipe for injury. Mikey, have you ever dumped in the surf with your skiff? Broaching on an incoming wave would be difficult to control on a big beam kayak or skiff.
